So don’t:
Turn up late for your interview and keep the interviewer waiting-you’ll look unprofessional before they’ve even set eyes on you. It’s far better to be early than to be late.
Sit there in silence or answering simple yes or no responses-how will they get to know you if you don’t speak? This is your chance to show the interviewer what value you can bring to their organization, so do not waste it.
Insult or swear at the interviewer-this is a given. Most people know not to do this, but you would be surprised as to how many horror stories you hear from interviewers and recruiters about how certain job candidates have done this to them in the past.
Answer your phone. No matter how important a call you’re expecting is, there is no excuse for leaving your cell phone on, let alone answering it in the middle of the interview. Turn the phone off well in advance of entering the interview room. And when I say turn it off, I mean switch it off completely-do not just put it on vibrate.
Respond to emails or in any way, shape or form use your Blackberry! In a way this is even ruder and more outrageous than answering your phone, as replying to emails or a tweet takes longer than telling someone on the phone that you will phone them back.
Waffle at the interviewer. Just as you shouldn’t give monosyllabic answers, you should not deliver a monologue in a job interview either. Remember that it’s a two-way conversation.
Be too dominant or domineering in the interview. Remembering that it’s a two-way conversation also means not being too overbearing during the interview.
Try to be funny when you’re simply not being! Try not to tell many jokes, if any. If you do tell a joke, make sure it’s in good taste and not offensive in any way!
Criticise your current employer or boss. No one wants to hire someone who’s so ready to criticise the people who pay them.
Overtly clock watch. If you’re watching the clock during a short job interview, what are you going to be like having to work from 9 to 5 every day?

Welcome to the third in my Texas Holdem Strategy Series, focusing on no limit Texas Holdem poker tournament play and associated strategies. In this article, we’ll build upon the poker tournament strategy fundamentals from last time, with some important poker betting strategy basics.
Winning at Texas Holdem poker doesn’t have to be a gamble, since it’s actually a game of skill. Of course, there will always be an element of chance, but there’s a lot more strategy and skill to poker than meets the untrained eye. When you learn to play the odds properly, it can make a huge difference in your winnings.
No limit Texas Holdem is the game of choice these days – and for good reason. The fact that anyone can decide to push a large raise or all of their chips into the pot by going “all-in” at any moment, adds an exciting dimension to the game. Unlike limit Texas Holdem, where each round of betting takes place in prescribed, fixed increments, no limit Texas Holdem is as varied as the players at the table, since everyone chooses their own betting style and approach.
When playing no limit Texas Holdem, you’re faced with some important decisions. Arguably, the most important decision you’ll make is how much to bet in a given set of circumstances; e.g., hand strength, your position at the table, total number of players, their styles, etc. There are many different betting strategies, but one of the first things to learn and pay close attention to are “pot odds” and whether you have a positive “expectation” to win.
You have a positive expectation whenever the odds favor you winning more than you’re wagering at anything greater than 1 to 1 odds. For example, when flipping a coin, there is a 50/50 chance of it coming up either heads or tails. If you flip a coin enough times, both heads and tails will come up an equal number of times.
Casino games, such as craps, blackjack, slot machines, etc. all give the player a “negative” expectation and the casino a positive expectation. If you play these types of “gambling” games long enough, you will ultimately lose, since the game’s odd structure is never in your favor – negative expectation. People who experience “hot streaks” also have losing streaks (they just usually quickly forget about the losing and don’t discuss it). When you’re making a wager, you’d always prefer to have a positive expectation. This is generally true in poker, but not necessarily always in no-limit poker. I’ll explain why.
Pot Odds are the odds the pot is giving you for making a bet. Let’s say there is $50 in the pot and it’ll take $10 more to call – you’re getting 5-to-1 pot odds to call, since if you win you’ll be paid $50 in exchange for risking only $10. For purposes of this decision, any amounts you previously placed into this pot are irrelevant, since they’re already expended and gone (if you fold).
It’s essential to understand pot odds as it relates to your hand odds, as one key factor in making your betting decisions. If the odds of you holding or drawing to the winning hand are better than the odds the pot is giving you, you should call or even sometimes raise; otherwise, you should typically fold (unless you’re going to bluff, a different story).
Continuing this example, let’s say you’re holding a pair of fives, and the board flops 9, K, 2 “rainbow” (no flush draw, different suits). With 9 players at the table, it’s certainly possible and likely that someone else holds a King or a Nine, or both, making your 5′s look pretty flimsy at this point. Your best shot to win is to draw another 5. There are two more 5′s remaining out of the 47 cards that you can’t see (in the deck or in another player’s hand).
So, the odds of pulling that next 5 on the turn or river are: 2 in 47 (2/47 = about 4%) on the Turn, plus another 2 in 46 on the River (an additional 4%), for a total of roughly 8.6%, which equates to a 1-in-11.6 chance of pulling that third 5 to make a set. Since the pot is only giving 5-to-1 odds, it’s generally time to fold. Otherwise, you’d just be “gambling” with a highly negative expectation of losing that additional $10. In no limit Texas Holdem, players will often raise the pot sufficiently to actually lower your pot odds so far that you can’t possibly justify staying in the hand – at least not statistically.
Clearly you can’t sit there in a real poker room with a calculator and run through all of these pot odds calculations while at the table! So, how does one learn poker odds well enough to apply them in real-time? Well, it starts by seeing the poker odds repeatedly, in a context that’s suitable for you to learn and eventually retain them. A poker odds calculator is a piece of add-on software that runs on your PC, monitoring your actual online play. A poker odds calculator computes the prospective hands you and your opponents are capable of drawing at any point in time. It then displays all possible hands you and the opponents could draw, teaching you what the odds of making that kind of hand would be.
This makes it easy to see what’s going on, and since a poker odds calculator displays the poker odds right there in front of you while you play, you’ll begin to learn them, making it semi-automatic, so you don’t even think about poker odds any more – you just know them. So, the first step is learning and internalizing these “hand odds”. Then, you can quickly calculate pot odds anytime you’d like.
Calculating pot odds requires you to pay close attention to the game, a key trait of good poker tournament players. Unlike playing online, where the total size of the pot is easy to determine (the online Texas Holdem poker program typically displays the pot amount right there on the screen for you), when you play in traditional offline poker tournaments, you must keep track of the pot size and chip count yourself, so you can estimate the pot odds and your best betting options.
Pot odds become especially interesting as the blinds and antes increase as the tournament progresses. Let’s say there are 10 players at your table, and the poker tournament structure has you at $25 antes with $200/$400 blinds. That’s a total of $850 that’s sitting thre in each and every pot before anyone even places their first bet! So, before you even look at your hand, you know that the minimum bet is $400, so you’ll need a good hand (with roughly 1 in 2 odds or better) in order to simply break even.
At this point, people will be angling to “steal the blinds” by placing a hefty bet, typically at least two times the big blind, or $800, in order to make the pot odds so unattractive that everyone just folds. Therefore, the first player to act often makes off with the booty, since the pot odds become even less attractive and most everyone hasn’t made a good enough hand to call. Of course, this can definitely backfire…
Let’s say the first player to bet raises to $800 in an attempt to steal the blinds, making the total pot now $1,650. Let’s say that a second player then calls with another $800, boosting this pot to $2,450. To get in on the action, you’d only need to call with $800, which means if you win the hand you’re getting a slightly better than 3 to 1 on your money. If it’s the Flop and you are one card short of making a King-high flush, then your hand odds are roughly 1-in-3. This would be “even money” if you joined in on this basis alone; however, you’re holding a King and there’s a King on the board from the Flop, so you now have a better than 1 in 3 chance of winning – a positive expectation! You place your $800 bet, so now the pot sits at $3,250.
You should generally make this bet, since it will yield a good return and you have the high pair (Kings), plus a flush draw, thereby improving your odds even further. Let’s say there was an Ace also showing, making your Kings second best pair. In this case, it time to fold because you have a less than a 1 in 3 chance of winning this hand, and if you continued throwing money at this pot, you’ll end up “pot-committed” and beaten by a pair of Aces (there’s usually at least one player in 10 hanging in there with an Ace hole card).
So, let’s say the last player to act goes “All-in” – after we’ve put our $800 in this pot. Now what? The first reaction should be – what kind of hand *could* this player actually hold? If the player is a relatively tight or solid player, chances are they’ve made a set or an Ace high flush. It’s always possible they’re bluffing, but very unlikely if they’re a good player, since there are already far too many people in this pot and it’s likely they’d get called with a real hand when bluffing.
So, what’s happened to our pot odds? Let’s say they went all-in with $5,000, pushing this pot up to $8,250. If you called with $5,000, you’re now only getting a 8.25 to 5 return, or roughly 1.65 to 1 – especially unattractive under the circumstances with highly negative expectation and so many players in this hand, further reducing your chances of winning. Therefore, everyone will likely just fold; unless they have a very strong hand plus a great draw (some outs).
There’s clearly a lot more to poker betting strategy, including position and acting first vs. last. Generally speaking, though, if you’re going to take a shot at that pot, and you’re in a position to act first, there’s a good chance everyone else will fold; however, you’d better think carefully about the pot odds the opponents will be getting after your bet is in there.
If your bet modifies the pot size such that it improves their pot odds (by limping in with just a small bet), you’re actually encouraging the opponents to hang in there with you, since they still have a good, positive (and improving) expectation level. If you bet enough, such as two to three times the size of the big blind, you’ll be reducing their pot odds enough to swing into a negative expectation, so they’ll be much more likely to fold. It’s really important to think your bet amounts through and understand the pot odds implications of your betting.
When you make such a play at the pot, it’s ideal to have some kind of hand, along with a good draw. If you find yourself short-stacked, then this may be as good as it gets. Bluffing will be covered more thoroughly in a later article, but at this point it’d be great to have at least a small pair, as well as a good straight or flush draw (since you’ll also have the potential to make a set of trips, too). In this situation, you have so many good “outs” that your small pair begins to look a lot stronger, and your hand odds acceptable enough to go on a “semi-bluff” at this pot.
So, these are the basics of Texas Holdem poker tournament betting strategy that you should know and practice (the other good players do). Knowing your basic hand odds and being capable of quickly calculating pot odds are essential to making intelligent betting decisions under fire in poker tournaments, and regular ring game and limit play for that matter. A good poker odds calculator will help you learn the hand odds, and along with practicing calculating your pot odds, you’ll be making better decisions and getting the best of it the next time you play Texas Holdem poker.

The only thing to do is to STOP TRADING! Unfortunately, this is the simplest rule that is the hardest to follow, much to the despair of the many who do not follow it.
Chasing the losses is the one mistake that is so common that it is now expected from the newbies and addicted gamblers. Although it is tempting to keep increasing the stakes in an effort to gain back what had been lost, it is better to stop the trading and do more research before going on again. This is such a bad move for it places more pressure on the trader or gambler and they start to lose more money faster than they had ever experienced it before. It is literally throwing good money after bad in an attempt to correct a wrong.
Another big mistake that people make when they are already losing money Is catching the falling knife. This is a time when the trader insists on increasing their position even if the market is already moving against them. Tip to traders: if the market is trying to run from you, don’t run after it, instead pick up your slippers and run to the opposite way. This way you do not lose too much money. Ever heard of the Stop Loss Order? Use it, please. It’s for your own good.
If losing money, please, take a breather and stop the trade for a while. Go back to the trading spread sheets and check the notes all over again. Go over it several times and look for that something that you are missing out on that is causing you to lose a lot of money. Is there something in the research made that was missed out?
And last, if losing money and have issued the Stop Loss order, please do not re-enter the trade. Although this is really tempting for many, this is one of the spread betting techniques that is dangerous and you can stand to lose a lot of money. If the trade is losing, this means that somewhere along the way, you were wrong in your assumptions. So unless you have found the needle in the haystack, try to use the logical spread betting strategies that would gain you the profits instead.

At the start of the 4th-millennium BC (350-years before the Great Flood took place, which ended all civilizations on the face of the earth) gave rise to Slaug (a region of land, territory), an empire within civilization (a city-state of sorts); –of which, the human race was subject to an international court, that incorporated a triangle of cultures, empires, societies, and nations across all the connecting continents of the world, of which all were connected at this particular time together. They–meaning all lands on earth–was the composition, one opus for the entire globe, sustained from one region in the Atlantic, wherein, the strait nearby, which lead into the Mediterranean, would be know as the Pillars of Hercules; yet at that time there was no connecting of the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea above land.
There were no external moral laws either, against any behavior during this era of civilizations around the globe. Yes, people were different, and humility was not a virtue; the laws within the heart that told one it was wrong, were dead, like bones left to dry in a corpse. What might be considered unmoral actions, were all relative.
Economies were often–which was the norm–based on slavery for its labor and other desirable services. There was no discrimination, all were equal in the minds of the slave owners, masters–bitter-sweet you might say–slaves being: brown, white, black, yellow, red skin, the world over, and the government favored no one, and savagely dealt with each and everyone the same, as if to say, human life was a commodity at best; to the earths total, and complete sum, all combined civilizations were part of the circle.
As one was reared to think back in these days: death was simply a recycling of that commodity to be found in most every corner of the world; consequently, free labor in a city-state was a right, which it was given by the great democracy that had its world command center in the Atlantic, by a mysterious nation, a powerful and ingenious people, a subgroup from a higher order that no one dared to defy; democracy bent on, and within the world that did not subject the Atlantic Power Region [APR], to it. The Slaug’s had more slaves possibly than any other civilization on earth at this time; that is, this time I am writing about, the time when this story really did take place, according to my dream-vision. Who am I [if you are asking], I’m the dream, my name is Shark, and I have left these hidden secrets within a mound on an island for another time, for people to find and explore my writings, if you have found these writings, and this story, than you have searched or someone has what is called ‘Sacred Geometry,’ and so be it; for I have searched high and low in all the lands of the world to bring alive mysteries that have been hidden, and this is one.
–Religious dissenters [nonconformist] were killed, butchered alive in front of citizens; I did say democracy was in this land–did I not–but open was its boarders to debauchery and the Nation of the Atlantic held the secrets of the necromantic-culture, and that is what the people wanted; buried alive in front of whoever wished to watch, and be it a testament to those who wished to defy the democracy–of which inhuman crudity of the era was, or better put, seemed to be, in human crudity, being normal; it is really only this day and age that man has stepped forward to wave the flag of moral rights and responsibilities, yet hidden beyond all the dictators of the world of today, is exactly what was back in those far off days, evil-hidden–black enchantment–this was the rule, the norm.
Again I must say, and one should remember, it was the model, natural for people to act this way, or was it? Hundreds were put into huge burials [dugout-graves] holes in the ground: perhaps four-hundred could be thrown or tossed, cast in like diseased cattle into these grave pits (I have seen this with my own eyes in my vision). The liar was crucified upside down, he was considered a man with his insides out, and had no skeleton, thus, he was de-boned like a fish soon after, and left to rot outside the cities with the hyenas.
When sentiment: attitude, or opinions crept out, and were witnessed as to anything against the laws and ideals of the Atlantic-Governing Region, it was put out by the abolitionist, then and only then. This was the group that bore the Eagle Wings (yes this group was the Hidden Red Guards, the SS Nazis of our day; the CIA, or FBI, or KGB of the day); the Abolitionist of Kura, that worked for the Atlanta Group, were all of these subgroups and more. The emblem that went above their chest, or copper armbands, or brass ring, was the same emblem many other nations in future time would acquired. For example, the wings would go onto the Egyptian culture as well as the Persians to follower and the Roman’s would adopt the eagle wings; and yet far off in the future, the Nazi’s. And in the longer version of humanity yet to be born, the eagle wings would be adapted by North America to follow, the United States, for some odd reason this emblem would never rest for 10,000-years; never relax, never to find a inactive place for very long, remaining open to the conquers of the world, or so it seemed; yes, this was also used by this powerful nation to clench world power, this Atlanta Group–saying their government was for the people by the people–hence, democracy was born, but not signifying exactly what people wanted per se (for they were in a way brain washed), and even though it was not considered as great of an achievement as in today’s standards, it was significant nonetheless; and so it was.
The Abolitionist of Kura (within the city’s governing element), who were the enforcers, would chase down the traders–traders that were considered against the people of course, –the people of the Atlantic Group, so they’d say; the only favoritism was to their own kind was The Atlantic Group–which ruled the world bi-proxy, and at bay. In this city, the city really named Kura, but yet was known as, “The City of the Great Tower,” which was on the edge of the Black Sea, during its existence there was no Black Sea per se–at this time, it would come after the Great Flood–yes I repeat, it did not exit yet, it rather was created, created after the great upheaval of the earth. It was a desert now, a plateau kingdom that rested on the deserts edge, indented with terrain that would someday make a great sea; that said, after the continents would be split in-two (un-connecting the land masses) the crust of the earth would twist with birth pains, turning everything upside down during this Great Flood to be, of this era yet to come. But I’m ahead of my dream—-Kura, as was this powerful and mighty economic city-state called, gained the name of: “The Great City Tower,” is where I wish to remain.
As I was about to say, in the middle of the city of Kura, in its very center, its nerve center, otherwise known as its ‘navel,’ stood a two-thousand foot tower, two-thousand feet high into the dusty-blue ink like atmosphere. Its circumference huge also was deep rooted, that is to say, planted, and pushed deep into the crust of the earth to secure it for five-thousand years. It was a marvel of might to an on looking world by its visitors and tourist; but the might came from the Atlantic again, like most things of extraordinary feats, for they did the planting, and I shall get to that momentarily.
Like a peg, a fence peg, it was as it was: unfathomable, much entrenched was this mighty tower, this landmark of all landmarks into layers and layers of earth; taller than the pyramids of Egypt, stronger than the stonewalls of Troy, and more durable than Stonehenge; and older than the Sphinx. Who could boast a mightier beacon such as this [?] Not even Gilgamish and his mighty Uruk. Yet this symbol was not of hope or for one to look forward to, on behalf of mankind, rather the opposite, it was an encouragement to be subdued by the Atlantic group.
Within this city-fortress that spread out like the sun’s beams from the implanted tower, where 230,000-city inhabitants lived, of which 25,000 were-slaves who lived and ate and gossiped and tolerated the rules from the heap that ruled from the Atlantic region, that is, employed slaves with no wages other than time to spend until they earned their freedom, as a result, joining the democracy, the democracy that said they had to be in a slave-status, in all respects, this made the city’s populace somewhere around or close to: 255,000 at this point and time. All the people, as if it was a draft, knew they had to serve two years in slavery upon their sixteenth-birthday. And if not, how could an economy grow prosperous–it was beyond their comprehension, it was an unanswerable question, and pleasing to the Atlantic Group to leave it that way, wherein they had installed this reasoning for many years. It was something never brought up, after its implantation into civilization. The only way to get out of it was to buy your way out before you got in. And should you commit any infractions during your servitude, your time could be extended. The government could use your time and services, or you could be auctioned off by the government to the populist for commodities needed (Note: it is not much different in many ways as being a slave to credit cards of the 21st century I do believe; and trying to pay for credit given in advance, thus one sells his body and soul).
In essence, you did as you were told under this democratic-bondage: for the people by the people, so it was said, but what was meant was free labor for economic purposes, instead of an army that would spoil and use up all ones resources by free labor again to the government, therefore it was in a way, better for the populace, and for the commanding army of some two thousand miles away. In addition, there was open, or free sex if the master so desired it from his or her slave, be it with man or woman, or both?

If you have never had the pleasure of spending a lonely afternoon trying to figure out the answers to riddles, you have no idea how much fun you are missing out on. They come in all forms and complexity levels, starting with the easy riddles, then the hard riddles, and the toughest of all, the terribly difficult brain teasers.
If you enjoy activities that force your brain to think at its highest level, you most defiantly will get a big kick trying to uncover riddle answers. There is a method to the madness though, and until you understand it, and fully implement it, you will more than likely not be too good at coming up with the correct answer very often.
To become highly proficient at the sport, yes some riddle lovers do consider it a sport; you are going to have to think like the person who wrote the riddle. In other words, you are going to have to get inside of their heads. There is a reason they are called riddles, which is they are not easy to understand or solve.
Each and every riddle will have a specific number of words, and almost every one of those words, the writer could have used another word in its place. So, you have to slow down, read all of the words very carefully, and ask yourself, “Why did the author use this word, instead of that one”?
That is the first step, next you have to think about what point the riddle is trying to make. A riddle is designed by its very nature to attempt to look in one direction, when you are supposed to be looking in the opposite direction. So, the first thing you will need to do when you are working on this part of solving equation is to forget totally about the obvious, and concentrate on the not so clear assumption the writer is attempting to make.
If all of that sounds a little bit complicated, well it is, and it is meant to be so. If you really want to get good at solving riddles, it is best to start with the easy ones first and only later move on to the more tricky riddles. You want to do this for many reasons.
First, you want to acquire the skills that you will need to be successful. Second, you want to develop your own style and techniques. Third, by learning how to solve the easy riddles, your confidence will grow, which will provide you the emotional support that you will need to overcome the more complex riddles.
Solving riddles as a hobby is certainly not for everybody. That being said, they do have a very large following of millions upon millions of people that do it every day of their lives. If you think you could be good at it, or you think that you would enjoy it, well then, why don’t you go ahead and give it a try. After all, who knows, you might someday become one of the best riddle solvers in the world.
